Default Bird Watching in Lion Country

Bird Watching in Lion Country, for those who have no idea what it is, it is actually the title of a highly recommended book on forex trading by a real full time trader Dirk du Toit. Here is a short introduction from its website:

Quote:
Consider this: Only 25% of forex professionals use technical analysis as their primary tool in their ‘decision-making package’. The rest use it in a supporting role only. Were you told otherwise by a marketing wizard? Are you finding that your charts are not telling the full story? Timing off - again and again? Stop too close - again and again? Dollar fell on 'good' news - how could it - again?

This book helps you to think and trade like the market movers, the big banks, the institutions that affect price. If you go up against them, you will be lion food. The big boys learn to ‘listen’ to every word the market is telling them. You need to too. Bird Watching will teach you how.
Here are some reviews of the book found online:

"Bird Watching in Lion Country" is a relatively new eBook that is written by Dirk du Toit. One might think that this eBook is all about the jungle and hazards of lions when trying to enjoy the hobby of bird watching. In fact, the cover is very artistic and definitely draws your attention. "Bird Watching in Lion Country" is not an eBook about jungles, bird watching or survival in the wilderness. It is a financial advisor book that focuses on teaching novice traders the art of utilizing the forex trading market.

Bird Watching in Lion Country is a bestselling ebook by Dirk du Toit & has been sold in almost sixty countries.. It shows you, step by step how to make money, and what to avoid, beginner traders and experienced traders alike.Readers have even compared the ebook with classic trading litratures such as Reminiscences of a Stock Operator and Trading for a Living.

There is no “trading system” that can be learnt by wrote and then applied. This is a blindingly obvious fact, yet it is largely ignored. This e-book does not sell a system. It sells a pattern of successful behaviour, or rather the steps a trader must take in order to acquire this pattern of successful behaviour.

This is the best ebook on trading I have read in a very long time. Yes, its title does not betray that the ebook has anything to do with trading, and much less so with trading the Forex market, but it really does. To partially understand the origin of this curious title, one has to read through the first paragraph of the book: "The first person I met in the retail forex trading industry, the CEO of the prominent start-up forex company (IB) in South Africa was previously a star trader- in vending machines. The second person I met was the marketing director of a market maker. I expected to meet knowledgeable, successful and profitable traders. I met fast talking, successful, profitable salesmen. I knew I had entered the lion country."

Certain key points that I thought Dirk did well in harbouring on were the importance of fundamentals in a strategy. I know in my trading that there are times when I can get a little too lost in chart patterns, or indicators, or support and resistance lines that when an economic announcement is released it doesn’t pay ANY attention to those things and rips through all technical reasoning.

If you want the “Bible” of currency trading, then Dirk du Toit’s trading system is the one you should try. Dirk du Toit, a.k.a. Dr. Forex, is considered an expert among those in the forex trading markets and his secret formula to successful trading is no longer a secret. Find it at, Bird Watching in Lion Country.

The 4×1 methodology put forward in ‘Bird Watching In Lion Country’ kept bubbling to the surface of my thoughts. As I whittled down the choices of how I should proceed in my forex trading career, it was the only method that seems to stand true. I obviously had further questions and doubts about my own ability to use it successfully. At the same time, it was an approach to trading forex that seemed simple, robust and adaptable all at the same time.

I simply think it is a very important book to read and want to prove it with the reviews. It is highly fundamentals-oriented so that it may put off those of you who enjoy plowing through EAs and indicators, but nevertheless all beginners should have a look.

Attached is a printed pdf file of an intorduction the method in the book, written du Toit's former student, Torsten Kroeger.

Welcome to the forum Ganglion. I very much look forward to your input on issues and questions. BWILC was one of the first ebooks I purchased and read when I got started in forex. Its about time I go back and read it again to learn some of what I didn't understand the first time through.

I couldn't digest everything either when I first read it. It's simply too thick, and the third part about economic theories and forex history are actually quite tedious for newbies too read. Perhaps I will read it again in the future.

This is an excellent e-book IMHO. I read it not too long ago and I am of the same midset as the author. I stogly recommend to traders that they apply his (Dirk) multiple entries trade management technique.

A word of warning to those who intend to purchase it. Do not expect some "holy grail" method to be explained to you. What the book does offer though is an insight into how the forex market works (ie what moves it). It is rather well written, but like I said don't expect things to be clear-cut. In fact Dirk's theories are somewhat subjective/vague which is AS IT SHOULD BE. Think about it, if the forex market was so clear-cut we'd be all billionaires by now.
