Be careful of those data charges...one of my friends racked up several hundred dollars in unexpected charges because he forgot to disconnect from some website he was using.

Everyone I know that owns an Asus netbook loves it....I think that is the brand I am going to buy next year.

I have had several Dells over the last few years, with the last one being a desktop that I purchased almost a year ago. It was doing great until the last couple of months, and since then, Windows has become unauthorized and it seems to lose its internet connection on a whim.

I am currently typing on a Toshiba and I have had nothing but good things to say about it. I bought it two years ago at a Black Friday sale, so its life is nearing the end, but it has been a fabulous computer.

Hi all,i'm on BT BBtalk with a voyager 220v adsl voice router and i want to make my desktop PC wireless.

What's the easiest/cheapest way of doing this ?
I'm under the impression that even as an existing customer i'll have to buy the BT home hub if i want to[have i got that right ?],but can i just install a network card in my pc and do it like that instead ?
Which would be better ? Cheaper ?

I just want to be able to use a laptop wirelessy to connect to my BB connection.
I've never "gone wireless" so to speak before,but i can fix my pc and install hardware and software ok.

I think the cheapest and cleanest option would be to get yourself a good wireless router

Technically you could install a wireless NIC in your PC and have it act as an access point, but the easiest solution would be to just get a router. If you want to go the windows wireless access point route, here is an article that may help:

If you go the router route (ha ha - I'm the master of wordplay..not) I recommend you stick with the major router brands and avoid the "cheap" brands - after all you do get what you pay for.

Also keep in mind that if you setup your desktop as an access point, it would have to be turned on in order for the laptop to go online. I personally would go the wireless router route ( alan ), connect your desktop to it with a wire, and chances are good that if your laptop was purchased within the last 3 or 4 years it already has wireless capability so all you are buying is the wireless router.

Yeah, and wireless routers are ridiculously cheap these days. You can get a name brand router starting from $20! Heck, for $24+ you can even get 802.11n support which will give you a sweet 300 Mbps capacity.
