Only 1 breakout/trade for day range.

Default retracement update 3

Observations:
- perhaps 1 in 10 trades is the perfect retracement (i.e. keeps going!). For the rest, with Offset_Breakout=5, it 'prematurely' triggers, going into a loss, before much later hopefully coming back for a profit.
- a stop loss of 50 is not enough! It needs more room to breath.
- usdchf and eurgbp are still with 0 losses (& eurusd with no fri/sun trades) as long as you have 100 or more stop loss
- Don't trade on Friday, simply because your trades will probably stay open through the weekend and this is unpredictable.
- in order to have the SL at 210 you need a decent risk reward, thus take profit. Rdalfrey's variable take profit is giving you this and has now been in profit for the last 3 weeks. This week was the most successful.

- we just need an update from rdalfrey to see if he has changed any of the setup

- I am going to increase the stop loss to 210 again, but also increase the Offset_Breakout=10

I have been looking at the daily ranges:

eurusd; 116pt average daily range over last three weeks
with a range height restriction of 60 and and take profit of 40, this looks about right, but could go slightly higher.

gbpusd; 199pt average range
with a range height restriction of 80 and take profit of 50, there is probably some room here.

so,
eurusd; Max_RangeHeight=65.00000000
gbpusd; Max_RangeHeight=140.00000000

unfortunatley the bigger the trigger range, the smaller the likely breakout, so we can't use the variable take profit.

But, we could use the Set_BreakEvenAt to try and reduce the losses and secure those real breaks.

any thoughts?

Funny you should mention this since I was thinking about it as well. For example, today's Asian session range for the EURUSD was 61 pips and for the GBPUSD, 98 pips. Yet both pairs broke out to the upside about 100 pips above the high of the asian session before plummeting down and settling down around the middle of the asian session range by the time trading stopped. Both would have easily hit the profit targets. While the EA did not trade, I did manually go long on both pairs this morning and banked a few of those 100 pip moves. I think this is the third time since I started testing that the range restrictions of 60 and 80 prevented the EA from executing profitable trades.

So it does seem that the settings are conservative and could go slightly higher. I might go with your settings of 65 and 140 for the coming week. LOL

Default Magic Number

Quik
I am testing some strategies using the breakout with 2 different SL settings on the same pair. Each strategy has a different SL but both orders were triggered and used the same stop. The one I put in last. Also I got a terminal.exe error (another EA may have triggered the error). I was wondering if changing the magic number so each one had a different number would correct this? When I displayed the magic number both orders had the same number but I did not see a way to make each number unique.
Thanks, Bert

Default ATC seems to run the best

ATC seems to be the best broker to use. I've been running DBS & MACD together over the last month on 6 brokers:

ATC -0.30%
MBT -13.8%
Collective FX -23.3%
FXDD -37.4%
FXCM -39.5% ***** (FXCM with MACD set on H4 instead of daily)
PFG -41.3%

***** all other brokers on standard settings.

Thanks, Bert

Use the EA on 2 differents charts and change the Magic Number manually.

Set Use_Manual_MagicNumber=true and change Manual_MagicNumber setting.
